Pick the spot
- Where people already stop: the entry, a mirror wall, the end of the turf lane, the locker-room hallway.
- Out of traffic, so a photo doesn't block a set.
- A plain wall behind it. Busy backgrounds kill the sign.
Light the person, not just the sign
The most common mistake: a bright neon sign and a dark person in front of it. The phone exposes for the sign and the member comes out as a silhouette. Add soft front light on whoever stands there, matched in brightness to the sign, so both show up.
Neon, backlit or halo-lit
- LED neon: a line in your color, great for words and simple logos.
- Backlit logo panel: bold, even glow, reads from across the room.
- Halo-lit letters: light hidden behind the letters, so they glow at the edges. Classy, and it photographs without glare.

Wording that gets posted
Short beats clever: your name, a three-to-five-word line members actually say, or your city. Big enough to read in a selfie from a few feet away.
Make it easy
- Mark a spot on the floor where the light is best.
- Put your handle on a small sign in the frame.
- Change the color for events: a team color on game days, pink in October.
When lighting won't fix it
A wall won't get posted if members aren't proud of the gym. It amplifies a good community; it doesn't create one.
