Lighting scenes for cycling, HIIT and yoga studios

Group studios run on scenes, not switches: a warm-up, a peak and a cool-down, each saved and set off by the instructor from a keypad or a phone. Cycling and HIIT rooms use color and motion at peak; yoga and pilates use warm, low, even light. Every scene keeps enough light to move safely and to see the instructor.

Color and motion belong inside

Inside a studio, color chases and beat-synced motion are fine. That's where they're allowed and where they work. Fixtures that change color and white (RGBW or RGB plus tunable white) let one room do all of it.

Instructor control

A simple keypad by the instructor's spot with four buttons (Warm-up, Peak, Cool-down, Lights up), plus a phone app for the manager. Scenes can also follow the class schedule, so the room is ready when people walk in.

Safety first

  • Every scene keeps enough light to see the floor, the bikes and the exits.
  • The instructor is always lit.
  • Flicker-free fixtures, since strobing or flickering light can bother some people.
  • Exit and emergency lighting stay on their own code-required circuits.

Lines and features

A light line around the ceiling, a backlit logo behind the instructor, or lines along the floor of a cycling room make the space feel like a destination. See interior lighting and custom signs.

When lighting won't fix it

Scenes support a great instructor; they don't replace one. And a room that's too hot or too loud won't feel better with color.

Questions

Questions

What lighting is best for a cycling studio?

Scenes: dim and single-color for warm-up, saturated color and motion on the beat at peak, and a slow fade to warm for cool-down, while the instructor and exits stay lit.

What color temperature is best for yoga studios?

Warm, around 2700 K, kept low and even, with very low light for the final rest.

Can instructors control studio lighting?

Yes, from a keypad with a few saved scenes or from a phone, and scenes can follow the class schedule automatically.
